Laughter and Healing
Laughter may be the best medicine, but sometimes it’s hard to find things to laugh at while your world is being turned upside down. We understand that. However, we do not accept it! Finding humor in the little things in life might sound difficult, but it’s easier than you think! Laughing is not only good for the soul, but good for your health, too. We try to make smiling and laughing everyday occurrences while lifting your spirit in the battle with breast cancer.
Healing comes in a variety of ways. From Gentle hugs, to late night phone calls, instant or text messages, a companion at the doctor’s office, talking over coffee, or sharing your strength with other members.
Fighting Pink believes strongly in paying it forward. Once our members heal and become ready to help others through their battles, they can volunteer to help with our care packages. Our care package task force collects donated items and helps to prepare care packages for women in the Charleston Breast Center’s Outreach and Education program who are just recovering from surgeries. By creating and donating these care packages, we share hope and strength to these women and let them know that they, too, are not alone.
We host an annual fundraiser in October to help with our mission. Members, their families, friends, as well as the public is welcome to attend. If you would like to join our events committee, please let us know! We are always looking for fresh ideas to make our events more exciting!
